The Hamsa is regarded in many religions and cultures including Judaism as a protection against evil forces, and the evil eye. The Hamsas on his helmet are handcrafted ceramics symbolizing protection in the same way that a helmet is a form of physical protection. When the Hamsas are placed together, they create a shape of the Magan David (the Star of David), which also is a symbol of the shield of the Jewish people. To me all of these symbols . together represent the spiritual and physical protection of our soldiers.
