Getting  a  Grip

Lindsay Hay

Anxiety  can  serve  to  protect  us,  but  it  is  more  often  a  constricting,  suffocating  presence;  it  alerts  us  to  danger,  but  it  can  very  quickly  become  the  danger  itself.  Finding  ways  to  have  agency  over  it  gives  us  power  to  continue  moving  forward.  The  anxiety  is  still  there,  lurking  in  the  depths,  but  we  have  the  option  to  ignore  it,  to  hush  it  back  into  its  place,  to  paint  each  fearful  situation  in  a  different  light.  Every  rainbow  starts  from  somewhere  within  each  of  us,  even  on  the  cloudiest  of  days.
